If you don't use the "Correspondents" column -- after about ten years as a 
MailMate user, I can't say I knew it existed -- right-clicking a name in the 
"From" column appears to work similarly. In fact, the options in the "Find 
Messages" submenu match more closely what you're trying to do, it seems to me.
