Thank you all for the response.  I was able to fix this with your
suggestions.   I had run fix_url at one time, but had to run it again after
I tweeked some permissions.

That's correct.  The actual mbox-format "raw" archive is stored with the
filename of "list.mbox", but then this mbox is stored in a directory by the
same name.

Believe me, it can be very confusing.

That sounds like a list configuration issue that needs to be resolved with
fix_list, and should be discussed in the FAQ.
