[ ]# urpmi --no-suggests --urpmi-root /chroot/mga3 plymouth the initrd is trying to redo, but with the current mga2 kernel which doesn't exist in the chroot. so again, i need to reinstall the kernel to trigger the initrd. [ ]# urpmi --no-suggests --replacepkgs --urpmi-root /chroot/mga3 kernel- desktop-3.7.1 apparently i need more, there was only a basic text mode moving bar on the bottom: [ ]# urpmi --no-suggests --urpmi-root /chroot/mga3 mageia-theme-Default [ ]# urpmi --no-suggests --replacepkgs --urpmi-root /chroot/mga3 kernel- desktop-3.7.1 bootsplash still nothing, but at least i get a mageia logo during system boot and shutdown, giving up on this for now... it's a bit annoying though, since the rpc.idmapd message happens and then i wait about 45seconds to get a graphical screen > - set a root password chroot /chroot/mga3 passwd > - install a dm (kdm) rather, i'm installing a full DE, so i boot it and put in a keyboard and login and install task-kde4 ouch, my bad, it seems i have connection refused when doing local urpmi. and to make matters worse, it seems the rpm database has been upgraded due to that and the mga2 server can't install chrooted packages anymore... :-( So, i have to restart it. ... to be continued
