Hi,

We don't expect to find many chipset vendors in this list, but still
this new doc might be interesting for those of you interested in the low
level interfaces of the platform and also for those with an open source
agenda.

Maemo Base Port
http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Maemo_Base_Port

"Maemo is a Linux-based operating system designed to run on high-end
Nokia mobile computers. The Maemo architecture is divided into three
layers: independent applications layer, middleware layer and base layer.
The base layer is responsible for fundamental OS services and
first-level HW abstraction (direct HW access) and forms a runnable and
testable entity as such.

When Maemo is ported to a new chipset and HW environment, the majority
of the SW work takes place in the base layer. However, some adjustments
may also be needed in the other layers. The porting work as a whole is a
combined effort by the chipset vendor and Nokia. This document describes
the deliverables expected from the chipset vendor in such an effort."
