Hello,
I played a bit with this idea:
1. Created a osso-software-version-rx34_4.2008.36-5a package. The
difference is that the following packages are removed from the
dependency:
gizmo-installer
pre-installed-documentation-rx44
pre-installed-images
pre-installed-sounds
rhapsody-installer
skype-installer
promo-applet
2. Put that package in a repository:
deb http://my.arava.co.il/~matan/770/apt/ ./
3. Flashed N800 with Diablo image, added repository to application
manager (AM).
4. The AM offers the first SSU. I tried apt-get install
osso-software-version-rx34, which tries to install my package, but
fails, since the new packages are not available.
5. Installed first SSU. After reboot, AM offers second SSU from Nokia, not
my package.
6. Installed my package with apt-get, reboot manually. Everything seems
fine.
Preliminary conclusions:
AM only works with Nokia updates. Any community versions needs cooperation
from Nokia, direct use of apt-get, or a different front end for apt-get.
Such a front end should support Maemo-Flags (for automatic reboot, for
example).
A community version should also solve the sequential updates install,
allowing install of latest update only.
