Crap, noticed I only replied Murray, not the list. So: you need to use --with-maemo-gtk=no if you want to use stock GTK+. And yes, as far as I can tell this is not mentioned anywhere in the README or similar, we'll fix it tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming!
