Since we are all here on this list, actively working to define
maemo.org, I would like to turn our attention to the official
packaging document; Maemo Packaging Policy v0.23.

This document has a lot of missing pieces. This makes it hard for
someone to get started packaging specifically for maemo if they do not
have a debian packaging background. This is unfortunate.
I think a clear, well defined policy document is a pre-requisite for
high quality packages, which in turn will lead to more stable software
on the tablets and happier users.
I would like to request that the council engage with Nokia to define
ownership of the policy manual and task the relevant parties with
updating the documentation and policy itself so that we can have a
more complete and up-to-date policy for the community and those
working on maemo packages.
