Hello Everyone, Recently, after determining that the low-cost walking pad I purchased from Amazon, last summer, would no longer meet my needs, I purchased a full residential treadmill from Spirit Fitness.
I purchased the Spirit Fitness model XT485 treadmill. Do not purchase the XT485 ENT model as the ENT model offers a touch screen interface as opposed to tactile buttons. Just so you know, I placed tactile bumpers on various buttons of the treadmill so as to be able to identify each button, easily. I purchased the bumpers at Home Depot for approximately $10. Unlike the 285 and 385 models, the XT485 is currently in production as it is the latest model. There is an XT685 model but do not consider it. In addition to having tactile buttons, a built-in fan, amazing handrails with embedded incline and speed controls, this model includes the full implementation of the FTMS Bluetooth protocol. It also includes a high speed USB-A charging port and. Of course it offers stereo Bluetooth speakers. The primary reason I am recommending this model, in addition to the fact that I simply love, love, love it, is because the Spirit+ app for iOS is Voiceover accessible. Among other things, with VoiceOver enabled on iPhone, you can read all of the matrix data that is currently being displayed on the treadmill in real time. It is absolutely marvelous. One nice thing to note is that the Spirit Fitness website offers screen reader-specific settings for Jaws, VoiceOver, etc at: www.spiritfitness.com The XT485 is considered to be a mid to high end residential model treadmill with a weight capacity of 425 pounds with a max speed of 12 miles per hour and a max incline of 15 degrees. The suggested retail price for this unit is approximately $3,000 however, there are several local vendors and/or websites that sell this model for as much as $500 less than the suggested retail price. If you’re in the market for a treadmill, I definitely recommend the Spirit Fitness XT 485 foldable treadmill. Mark PS I had my unit professionally installed and calibrated. I suggest that you do the same. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
