I think that it was probably left out by omission and not intentionally. The 
same way MB2HAL was. (Since already integrated back to Machinekit-HAL.) I don't 
see any reason why it should not be integrated back into the source-tree. You 
may want to try the more universal Modbus modules like the MB2HAL or the new 
https://github.com/aekhv/vfdmod
