Darren,

I read everything that everyone here posted. I spent countless hours, following all the suggestions on how to make it work. I tried the jetdirect route, the gimp print route, the Samba route, and things that seemed absolutely impossible (and were), and nothing worked. The only sucess I had was to be able to print from the PC to the Mac. Going the other way flat out wouldn't work. In fact, I couldn't even get the PC to print to the Canon printer that was attached to the JetDirect--the Mac wasn't even involved in that arrangement.

All I'm saying is that Mac to Mac print sharing is the most painless, simple thing. Why does it have to be so complicated to do it across platforms? I admit, I don't have a second PC with which to try printer sharing PC to PC. And maybe the problem is solely in the Canon printer--I don't know.

Hi Gretchen

Its been a saga for you, for that I'm very sorry.
Are you saying that the Canon i560 is attached to the imac and can be happily shared with the PB and if so are you using the JetDirect and have access to the Brother HL-1440 printer also?

Printing between two machines of the same platform is never very hard or complex, for my small experience I've found no problems with x-platform using a Nix box in the place of your Linksys BEFSR41.
The Jetdirect and WAP11 are interesting additions to be added into the mix.

I'll look for something useful about the Canon again. The fact it has shared in one direction would suggest its not a firewall problem.
