There's a chance you're not comparing Apples and Oranges. You may be
seeing $253 for a brand name stick vs $160 for a generic stick.

Your purchase might have been a while ago, but I just fired up
www.sonnam.com and they have 1 GB PC3200 for $120 and 1 GB Kingston =
$170.

Canada Computers (which does mail order) has similar prices...

I just looked at OWC and 1 GB from them was $140 + tax.
