Ahem! I have a picture of the opening on my blog - link in my sig - but
apart from the crowds it was a ho-hum event. If you know Yorkdale you
can get an idea of the crowd size from the fact that the queue
stretched from the old Bombay store (which Apple now occupies) out to
the Sears store, then around the outside of the building down to the
Holts store. 1500 t-shirts were given away, but that was it - no goody
bags. The store remains popular: last weekend I was there around 5 pm
on Saturday and a security guard was regulating the number of people
entering to make sure the size of the crowd inside didn't violate fire
regulations. Most stores close around 6 on Saturday, but the Apple
Store continues until 9 pm.
Today's Apple-Intel announcement was much more interesting....

I was just down in Oregon and caught the opening of the store in Tigard
(Bridgeport Village). A guy there said Yorkdale opened 'a couple of
weeks
ago' . . .but, LOL, at first he was trying top convince me it was in
Vancouver . . oh man...

Can't remember, but the opening was somewhere in may.
Look at http://www.apple.com/ca, you'll see the icon first left.

Cool! Never even knew it had already opened! BTW when was the grand
opening? I don't think the parent website actually mentioned it's
opening.
