"Looking archaic" is not really much of a problem, if it does the
job, eh? In any case there do not seem to be a lot of options.
For Canadian software, there are a few places that you can go to
use the web to file online via NETFILE. There is only one Mac compatible
software for Canadian taxes, TaxTron. There are restrictions placed on who
can use NETFILE, we have never been able to since we have enough foreign
income to disqualify us or other things, so we always have to print out our
return, thus I have no experience with any of the NETFILE options.

TaxTron is free to download and use, but will require payment
before it prints stuff out if you have an income over a certain figure (I
think it is $30,000). At that point you can pay for printing 10 different
returns for about $24 CAD. Thus, one can "try before you buy". If you were
a real cheapskate, I suppose you could use it to do the return, then copy
out the numbers by hand to the appropriate forms and send those in - or
maybe do something with the TELEFILE phone filing system?
