I think that this type of power cord (regular wall plug on one end,
other end a pair of joined circular shafts with female receptacles) is
fairly commonly used - even for things like coffee makers. The Apple
cables
are special in that they fit nicely with the power brick (saucer,
whatever), but you should be able to find a cheaper source.
