Go with a Sony - it's worth the extra couple hundred bucks. My buddy got a Panasonic and the Sony has much better video quality. I've got a TRV25 (last year's model) which is mid range in the DV series but you can step a model down especially if you don't need still pics. Plays nice with my G3 iMac and iMovie. This year's comparable model is the TRV33 but like I said, you could probably get away with the less pricey TRV22.
