In attemptingto find out why my iBool kept locking up
when exiting Appleworks, it wa suggestion by another
reader of these lists that just maybe OS 9.2 and OSX preferred
Appleworks programs specific to each operating system

So in some desperation reformatted the hard drive on the iBook after
saving pertinent files.

My iBook has what I term the combo system, OSX in the foreground, OPS
9.2 in the background.
I much prefer OS 9.2.

On the five discs it was noted after reloading and doing all the juggling
required
that the software supplied loads AW 6.2.4

However said version is a bare-bone version ofthe full blown Appleworks,
so no translators for exampe.

Having purchased a single copy of the new Appleworks compact disc which
on the labels states
Mac OS X
Mac OS 8.1 or later

so I assume this version is cross-platform compatible.

However...

further investigation reveals there are in fact two versions of
Appleworks on this disc!

version 6.2.5 is intended for Mac OS 8.1 to 9.0
version 6.2.7 is intended for Mac OS X

This is the fully loaded version c/w file translators and a similar
goodies including
a UK English disctionary.

And it loaded into the Applications file for OS9, and snuggled up right
beside the aforementioned 6.2.4.
Seperate folders as they are seperate programs...

Playing devil's advocate I then removed version 6.2.4 to a CD Rom which I
promptly filed for future use.

So far touch wood not problems...

Now as to where version AW 6.2.6 went to is anybody's guess...<g>

So far no lockups, but that doesn't mean diddly squat..
