Hmmm. Since both PowerMail and AppleWorks are commercial products I advise you to
contact the help lines for either and/or both products to find out if there are known
compatibility issues.

Since you're an OS 9 die-hard I'll ask the following questions:
1. What versions of said programmes are you running?
2. Are they the latest/last for OS 9? (you imply as much)
3. (MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION) Do you have any extensions/control panels installed that
are *not* Apple issue? OS 9.2.2 is horribly unstable at the best of times (compared to
OS X... not a crash since June on my Pismo/400 (the slower version of your iBook
(except with better video<hehehehe>...none of that mirroring-only crap)) ;), and that
instability gets exaggerated when one uses non-Apple extensions!
4. What do you mean when you say "crash"? Does your computer freeze up, or do you get
a "System Error" dialogue requiring you to restart? Do menus still respond? Does
anything respond when the Finder stops working?
5. What 512 MB SO-DIMM do you have in your laptop? Is it a no-name brand or did it
come from Kensington or Apple? It is quite possible that you have a flukey RAM chip.

Comment: Perhaps it's time to consider migrating to OS X in a month or so when Panther
comes out. You have more than enough speed and RAM to make OS X 10.2.6 sing and once X
10.3 comes out you'll have *no* excuse to stay in the "dark ages" ;). Also, the
internet is *sooooooooooooo* much better in OS X than in OS 9!!!

PS Are you aware that you can do command (Apple key)-control-power to restart the
computer?

Sincerely, Eric.
