Hi Can someone please explain how to move my Internet Explorer favourites from one computer to another. I have 3 computers I use on the net and all have different favourites on their IE. I'd like to consolodate them all to a common list.
This is for IE on OS X but I believe that it also allies to OS 9 and earlier...
It appears that you have to have your favorites window open, and that will enable the Import/Export Favorites menu items in the File menu.
Export favorite pages
1. On the Window menu, click Favorites. 2. On the File menu, click Export Favorites. 3. Specify a location for the exported file, and then click Save.
Import is similar.
I neglected to answer the "how to transfer" the favorites file from machine to machine.
Just copy the Favorites file from wherever you saved it to wherever you want it, i.e over your LAN or stuff the files and email them. If you email HTML files, they are often interpreted by the receiving email program, so stuffing them prevents that..
So you export the favorites from say machine 2 and 3 and then import those files into machine 1 where you would manipulate them removing duplicates etc.
Then you would export that revised file and then import the revised file into machines 2 and 3.
Or you could edit the files in a text editor if you are comfortable with HTML coding.
HTH a little more.
Cheers
