Hi.

I no longer use X11 tools to preview LyX documents, so my memory on properly configuring this is a bit rusty (so I may be barking up the wrong tree here). But I seem to recall that in order to make sure that LyX can call programs installed by fink correctly, you needed to set the paths in the environment.plist file in your user directory to include /sw/bin and /sw/usr/bin directories.

Try this, then do Edit->Reconfigure and see if you can't get the stuff to work.

But as Bennet noted yesterday, is there a reason why you want to use X11 tools for previewing pruposes? It is just as easy to use Preview/Acrobat/TeXShop/etc. to preview LyX documents in PDF via pdflatex. (And you should be able to set TeXShop to preview via DVI as well, but in that case I think TeXShop just converts DVI to PDF anyway, so it's probably the same as viewing via pdflatex.)

Hi,

I think I have everything installed. xdvi, gv, etc... and they run
fine from the command line.

i can file->export->dvi, and i can open it from the command line.

everything looks good.

but i still want to be able to launch dvi preview by view->dvi or view->postscript (or by issuing c-d and c-t command).

all installation paths to lyx, xdvi, gv are defaults and they are callable
from the shell window.

maybe i should change the viewer from "gv" to "/sw/bin/gv"?

Thanks,

Sang
