Linux Professional Institute and Canonical Offer Special Promotion on Exams

(Sacramento, CA, USA: May 19, 2009) The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), and Canonical (http://www.canonical.com), sponsor
of the popular Linux distribution Ubuntu, announced a new discounted
voucher program for the LPIC-1 and Ubuntu Certified Professional (UCP)
exams. The promotional program enables candidates to purchase a voucher
bundle for the LPI-101, LPI-102 and the LPI-199 exams at USD $120
each--a savings of over 20%.

"This is an excellent opportunity for candidates to earn both their
LPIC-1 and Ubuntu Certified Professional (UCP) certifications.
Furthermore as we now have new LPIC-1 exams this combined certification
status will enable successful candidates to demonstrate that they have
in-demand skills and knowledge in today's competitive employment
environment," said Jim Lacey, President and CEO of LPI.

"This combined effort from LPI and Canonical demonstrates the strength
of the cooperative efforts of Open Source technology organizations.
Together we can advance the cause of Open Source professionalism while
providing real benefits to our respective communities," said Billy Cina,
Canonical's Training Programme Manager.

To obtain the UCP certification a Linux professional must pass three
exams, each costing approximately USD $160 (depending on regional exam
pricing and exchange rates to local currencies). These three exams
include LPI-101 and LPI-102, for the LPIC-1 certification, and LPI-199
for the UCP certification. However Canonical and the Linux Professional
Institute have joined together to create a promotional "bundle" whereby
the exams are available to candidates at the special price of USD $120
per exam if they are purchased together.

Exam candidates wishing to participate in this special promotional
program are invited to contact local LPI affiliates (see
http://www.lpi.org/eng/global_partners/local_lpi_organizations) or the
Ubuntu Training Team (see: http://www.ubuntu.com/training/exams).
Information on prepratory training for the exams is also available from
LPI affiliates and the Ubuntu Training Team. For information on how to
