The Sun Tavern 66 Long Acre, Covent Garden http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=530357&Y=181113&A=Y&Z=1
About 5 minutes walk, if that, from Covent Garden tube. Went there last night. Very nice pub - the upstairs room is available and feels a lot less like a meeting room than say, The 3 Cups. It's a Youngs pub IIRC. When I was up there yesterday after a designers' talk they hadn't turned on the bitter because "designers don't tend to drink it and we didn't want it lying in the pipes going stale". I supect we could always ask if he'd bring in some Waggledance and/or Chocolate Stout. They don't usually do food in the evening (which is standard sort of pub grub, they do do platters as well though for those with a fondness for the CoY's sausages) but the manager said that he could ask the Chef to stay on for a couple hours longer if we were going to eat. I said I couldn't guarantee a number but he shrugged and said that we could try it out once and see how it goes. The one major downside I can see is there are no loos on the top floor so you have to go downstairs two flights of stairs. There may have been loos upstairs but I didn't notice them. Definitely worth having a look, I think. -- : pyschopathic proctology
