The next session of the Logic and Religion Association Webinar will be Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 10:00 am in New York; 12:00 pm in Rio de Janeiro; 4:00 pm in Paris; 5:00 pm in Jerusalem; and 8:30 pm in New Delhi. Speaker: Andrew Schumann (University of Information Technology and Management In Rzeszow, Poland) Abstract: This paper examines Judaic hermeneutics as one of humanity’s earliest logical cultures, showing it as a structured system of inference beyond religious interpretation. Rabbinic methods like qal wāḥōmer exemplify logic in practice, guiding law and exegesis. Comparing Judaic reasoning with Greco-Roman rhetoric, Indian logic, and Chinese philosophy reveals shared logemes across four traditions, all emerging in a Silk Road corridor. Rooted in Babylonian law and codified in the Talmud, Judaic hermeneutics illustrates logic as a communal, evolving practice shaped by cultural and institutional contexts.
