Yeah the dh stuff is pretty complicated when you just learn on the fly.
I would like to understand how it interacts with the CMAKE system better, which is why I want to know what part is installed to make VSTige in the program (or not in the case of 64bit Ubuntu)... there is a patch applied to prevent the 64bit VST, I suppose I will just have to do some more digging unless someone here knows.

Israel why not get it upstreamed. Seeing as ubuntu pulls from

Hi All, I have a question.
I got a bug report about Wine being pulled in by default, and
        have dug
around for a while with not much success, so I figured, since
        the list
is so active now, I will ask here.
I want to make a separate package to install called lmms-vst
But, I have been unable to find out what piece of the code I
        need to
install ONLY when that package is installed. There is not
        something
called vst.o/h/cpp It looks like RemotePlugin has some vst
        specific code
in it, but I am unsure if that is the only thing needed, or
        if that is
        not even the right part.
I would *like* to get this done for 14.04 but I will be happy
        to only
have my Icon fix when Trusty rolls around (the Icon looks
        terrible
        normally).

Currently the VST is also disabled for 64bit users, it has
        been disabled
since before I took the abandoned helm. So I'd like to have
        a fix that
doesn't bork upgrades but also can allow 64bit machines to
        use VST.

There is no upstream.... Debian maintainer is MIA.(Unless
something has changed) I just started to learn how to package
because lmms wouldn't show up in menus or the dash in Ubuntu. I
knew the issue, so I decided to try to fix it. Along the way I
have learned a lot, but I am not ready to be a Debian maintainer
as I still don't understand all the complexities of dh or CMAKE.....
I need to work more on understanding C++/BASH before I can be a
    really proficient packager.

If you want to take over the Debian package and do it, please do!!
