One more data point: Building/testing on Ubuntu 14.04.3 built with clang-3.6 and the ld.gold linker yielded the following test results, bringing me down to a single failure (and was 1.6x faster than a Debug build with gcc-4.9 and ld.bfd, 12 GB RAM and 6 cores allocated):
