The attached patch contains an implementation that properly checks for gmodules support and runs clean on OS X. I filed a few bugs and marked a few tests as failing with gmodules debug info in this patch. I'm going to give it a run on Linux and see if we have more tests that need to be marked xfail with gmodules support. @aprantl, can you update the patch sets with the latest patch?
