Why would it be doing this then "always".  Meaning, whether there is a command 
pending or not.  It appears to be constantly re-authenticating even during 
'dormant' periods -- meaning no client is accessing.

It does this because the back-end server is asking for it.  Your back-end 
server apparently wants authentication on every RTSP command.
