The code for the “LIVE555 Media Server” is not intended to be modified like 
that.  I suggest that you instead start by using the “testOnDemandRTSPServer” 
demonstration application (in the “testProgs” directory) as a model.  The code 
for that server is much simpler.

Also, I suggest initially using “openRTSP” <http://www.live555.com/openRTSP/> - 
not VLC - as a client for testing your server.  This will better tell you 
whether audio and video data is actually being streamed by your server.

Once you have successfully streamed audio+video from files (using the 
“testOnDemandRTSPServer” code as a model), then you should read

for tips on how to modify it to take input from a live audio/video source.
