No. As long as your frames are given accurate 'presentation times' (aligned with 'wall-clock time' - i.e., the times that you would get by calling "gettimeofday()"), then you should have no problem. The problems that you are seeing with VLC seem to be unrelated to its use as a LIVE555 RTSP client, so you'll need to contact a VLC mailing list to ask them about your problem.
