I have been tasked with writing trick play logic to work with the Video Propulsion Q4LP QAM card, so as a proof-of-concept I am trying to use the "testMPEG2TransportStreamTrickPlay" test program to generate a 8x scaled file to simulate Fast-Forward. The file I generated plays fine on VLC and WMP, however it does not play at all on my QAM card. When I asked the VideoPropulsion technical support, they said the 8x .ts file did not conform to 'DVB standards', and more specifically:
"There are repeated PTS & PCR timestamps having the same value. They look to be creating a PES packet for every slice of the video elementary stream, which is also unusual to say the least." I am curious if this is a bug with the live-555 logic, or if this working as designed. Would modifying the live-555 code to generate 'DVB standards'-compliant code be a major effort? > Jeffrey Wisgo >
