1) The code will run faster when using the existing listener but especially because it requires less new code 2) Vector is nearly always faster than list, and clearly using a wrong container type isn't a good practice even if performance isn't relevant in that particular case. I'm not sure if I've ever used std::list anywhere in real code... :)
