I remember somethings like this in the past, that the high-power devs were totally anti adding compatibility for legacy software/features but as a "by-stander" it looks very awkward and that instead of introducing new better stuff you're taking several steps backwards killing off a huge part of the community since DC++ is today used and abused by Russians and Romanians and you're intentionally holding back language support for them so they end up using shitty clients like graylinkdc.
"But they can update their unstable/lame/shitty/hack-exploitable-hubsoftware" If you live in russia you're generally not that wealthy, the majority of russians i play games with and talk to has super-shitty computers and updates to them generally means less room on the hdd, slower computer and slower software, they have this thing for old games old applications and if they work they don't really see any need to change- so for instance if the old DC++ client and hub takes 2 sec to start but the new one takes 2min+ they will automatically see it as: "poor code, bloaty, slower software = shitty software". But if we can't have this as native support then couldn't an plugin an suitable compromisation ? iceman50: do you use that program ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Dcplusplus-team, which is subscribed to DC++. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1228978 Title: DC++ can't handle Russian text Status in DC++: Won't Fix Status in DiCe!++: New Bug description: Any Russian text gets translated into crap and altering the text encoding type in Favorites.xml has no effect.
