I have some 24pin flex cable CIF cameras here. They are labeled with
pin 1 and pin 24. But some of them have the metal lands on the top
side of the FPC cable and some of them have the metal on the bottom
side of the cable. The matching connector on the PCB is also labeled
for pin 1 and pin 24.

So when I plug these cables into the PCB connector, does that FPC
connector make contact with metal lands on either side, or just one
side?

I can't get these camera to show up on I2C and I am wondering if the
connector is simply not making contact when the lands are on the wrong
side. There is no simple way to put a scope on it since the flex cable
has a coating on it.
