Firstly, you can't just use some random ROM for a tablet that isn't
definitely compatible with yours, the exact details of the hardware
are built into the ROM and every tablet is somewhat different, so if
you use some other ROM, you're likely to end up with a mostly
nonfunctional device. You're quite lucky that yours works as well as
you say. Also, you generally can't just add a random driver and expect
it to work: the driver will need to be built against the exact kernel
version that your ROM has and you'll then have to update the hardware
description stuff to match your tablet - there's more than just what
touch screen chip it has in there - and you now don't have those
details.

Secondly, we're only really just starting on adding full A31s support
as very few people have any devices with that chipset - admittedly
it's just a cut down version of the A31 which has fairly mature (by
our standards) support, but it's more complicated than that.

Finally, our kernel isn't really ready to support Android, so if you
want to build your own Android ROM (and you're more than likely going
to need to do exactly that) you'll have to use the vendor kernels, and
I'm not sure if we have one that's suitable for KitKat on the A31s -
even then you still will need the hardware details which you don't
have any more.

I recommend you keep poking those two vendors you mentioned for a
"livesuit" image. Once you've gotten your tablet 100% working again, I
recommend you go through the new device howto
http://linux-sunxi.org/New_Device_howto

And if you need to have KitKat running on it, you'll need to:
1. Get some "normal" Linux distribution running on there (details are
part of the howto above)
2. Try the same with a vendor kernel
3. Then try getting Android running on it.

Note that the chipset in the A31s has a Power VR SGX544 GPU which will
complicate things.

Good luck with the vendors, I hope you get it working again as the
A31s tablets seem to be pretty good in my experience.

Thanks,
