Well now we know it's nothing to do with mix of kernel build. Not that easy.
Can you send me that Android gslx680 driver? I sort out the extractor. Assuming the firmware is cut correctly, next would be check the state of the device. Did you comment out the Android specific code? Maybe that suspend code is broken and the gslx680 is asleep. I've never play with Android part but didn't scope out that old code.
