Hello,

I am able to use the meta-key bindings in bash (for command line editing
etc.) from an xterm while physically being at a machine (m1.umich.edu),
but these meta-key translations do not seem to work if I ssh into
m1.umich.edu from m2.umich.edu. However, the CTRL key bindings seem to
work fine.

What controls this behavior? Must changes be made on m1, or on m2, or
both? Does it matter what flavor of Linux runs on either machine or is it
only dependent on the shell? Any input is appreciated.

Regards,

-K
