The delivery man just delivered my shiny new HVR-1250 from NewEgg a half an hour ago - Joy! The unit appears to have a CX23888 instead of the CX23885 - Boo! So much for debugging first-hand the perpetual CX23885 A/V core interrupts when enabling IR.
Further research indicates this board is what the Linux drivers call an HVR-1270 Model 22111. At least I'll get its IR supported.
