I want to do it the Right Debian Way (tm) so that future upgrades do
not screw up my setup. I do not want to do this through FontPath.

I installed one ttf-* package and looked at
/var/lib/dpkg/info/ttf-*.postinst. It looks like the hints file that
is shipped with the .deb package is being used and defoma-reregister
is called. I tried this manually but the symlinks are not getting
created in /var/lib/defoma/
