Hi people,
Sorry if this is an unwanted question here, I thought you guys would
know if what I am after exists. I am searching for a Pentium PC on a
card that would allow me to use 2 PCI 10/100 NICS for use as an
OpenBSD firewall.
I would like something cheap as it's just going to be a firewall for
home between my small home network and the internet cable MODEM that I
should soon be getting. I don't mind if it's cheap taiwanese stuff. I
know this is overkill to the max, but I want to use this as a learning
platform that is in permanent operation without the hassles of dual
booting my desktop PC (which I am doing now with
Mandrake6.1/OpenBSD2.6).
What I would like is a product that either has 2 PCI slots or a
product that is the master of its PCI bus with a PCI backplane.
Some simple power requirements like a single DC voltage would be nice,
but I'm not holding my breath. I've looked around at many of the
products out there and they all seem to be very expensive.
The optimum I am thinking of is a Pentium with TX chipset and 2 10/100
Tulip NICS, using the COM port for console connection and configs.
Many thanks.
