These two (on top of Mauro's patches and my patch to include the admin-guide in the pdfdocs build) fix the pdf build for me. Apparently having the loooong literal blocks in separate files changes sphinx processing in a way favorable to the latex output.
I'm not overly excited about this, but I think this is a good intermediate solution to get pdf build working, and if we get 0day to crunch pdfbuild too, we'll have a better chance of keeping it working if/when we change stuff again.
