I think it helped that I had given him a lot of access to !PC code over the years so he felt inclined to return a favour, and I still had to promise to keep the specs themselves closely controlled and preferably the code obfuscated. But yes, as it becomes obvious Linux et al aren't going away companies (slowly) become better disposed to it. e.g I've just announced on the Psion Linux list that Psion have finally agreed that Linux on Psions is actually quite a good idea and will give us hardware info rather making us reverse-engineer everything. That's taken a little over 2 years agitating.
