Wouldn't that suffer with the same problems as previous satellite based
Internet solutions? In particular, high latency. I know this has
been a problem for gamers in the past.

Starlink is a satellite internet service providing high-speed, low latency
broadband internet with speeds from 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s and latency from 20ms to
40ms.
Early beta users are reporting speeds of 100Mbps+.
For Australian addresses, the estimated date for coverage is mid-to-late 2021.

This looks like an attractive option for those on NBN satellite. Also can be
