Random Hacks of Kindness (RHoK) held their RHoK November Hackathon in Sydney this weekend. Four teams worked on four projects with a social purpose:
First Stop are building a system for registering survivors after a disaster. OCIUS: Are providing a website for analysis of data from a uncrewed solar and wind powered vessel which collects oceanographic data. First Robotics: is an Australian offshoot of the US First STEM Project, to interest children in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Benjam: Is a project to build an App which allows children with autism to communicate with their carers. I was one of the three judges and we were unanimous in awarding Benjam a trophy, but all the projects were good. more at: http://blog.tomw.net.au/2014/11/hacked-for-humanity-in-sydney-this.html -- Tom Worthington FACS CP, TomW Communications Pty Ltd. t: 0419496150 The Higher Education Whisperer http://blog.highereducationwhisperer.com/ PO Box 13, Belconnen ACT 2617, Australia http://www.tomw.net.au Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Research School of Computer Science, Australian National University http://cs.anu.edu.au/courses/COMP7310/ _______________________________________________ Link mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/link
