Be afraid when conservative politicians talk about measures to reduce vote fraud - it is their cover for ways to make it harder to vote for people less inclined to vote for them.
In NSW we have automatic enrolment, internet based voting to supplement postal voting (iVote), use of online roll markoff at pre-poll and on election day, the ability to enrol and vote on election day and other measures which work to increase participation. None of them are in use federally - why? Group voting tickets were dumped for NSW Upper House elections after the 1999 election showed they were able to be rorted, and despite an agreement by the previous federal government with the Greens to make this reform, nothing happened.
