Hello,
I have ran into a somewhat strange problem trying to
run Licq (1.7, qt-gui 1.2.7, debian 3.0r1 testing).
The first time I ran it after install, it went okay,
and I did all the configuration for the firewall/proxy
I`m behind... however, today (after a boot) the Licq
would not start:
13:38:21: [WRN] Failed to start local TCP server:
Permission denied
13:38:21: [ERR] Unable to allocate TCP port for local
server (No ports available)!
however, when I run it as root, It starts normally. So
I believe there is some permission problem in my
system that is stumping me... I did a little
debbugging (-d31) and the only strange thing is that
the port that it uses when started as root is kinda
low (1333) compared to some debug dumps I have seen
while searching the ML.
Maybe my system`s permission settings are more
restrictive then normal (but that seems unlikely,
since the install was quite recent, directly from
distro cds, and I still hadn`t the time to mess with
the configs), but I have no idea how to check or
correct that... any suggestions or comments?
Claus
