You should probably try upgrading to the latest version (1.2.0a) first
to solve the dropped messages problem.
If you want incoming direct connections to work, you can configure licq
to listen on specific ports and forward those at your router. If you're
using the qt-gui plugin, you can configure the ports in the main
menu->Options->Network in the Firewall section.
I have the portrange set to 60200 - 60209. Can't remember if that's the
default though.
