I assume the relevant -dev packages are installed by the above. Yes, I did do "sudo apt-get build-dep libreoffice" It showed that all dependencies were installed. However, it seems that gstreamer was not installed. I checked all repositories through Synaptic Package Manager and found no package called "gstreamer-0.10". Do I need to add a new repository or is there a substitute package that would work?
