Yes, we want to try to implement this on our own. For now we plan to base it on the implementation in https://git.libreoffice.org/impress_remote. If I understand correctly, we can first look at this part: android/sdremote/mobile/src/main/java/org/libreoffice/impressremote/communication. At first glance, this package implements data exchange with Impress over the network.
