"drop gconf integration as per ESC decision" not only drops the
--enable-lockdown stuff, but also GNOME support for proxy, user name,
etc. settings (see list at Default::getPropertyValue,
shell/source/backends/desktopbe/desktopbackend.cxx) that are still
supported in KDE and (partially) on Mac and Windows.
