As you should notice, it is the building of fontconfig for Android that fails. Try this: run 'make fontconfig.clean' , then 'make verbose=t fontconfig' , and study the output from fontconfig's configure script. it should find the expat library (which should have been built for Android earlier), as passed in by the external/fontconfig/ExternalProject_fontconfig.mk makefile, something like this:
cd /ssd1/lo/android/workdir/UnpackedTarball/fontconfig/ && unset Platform && CFLAGS=" -DHAVE_GCC_VISIBILITY_FEATURE -fvisibility=hidden" LIBS="-lm" ./configure --disable-shared --with-arch=arm --with-expat-includes=/ssd1/lo/android/workdir/UnpackedTarball/expat/lib --with-expat-lib=/ssd1/lo/android/workdir/LinkTarget/StaticLibrary --with-freetype-config=/ssd1/lo/android/workdir/UnpackedTarball/freetype/instdir/bin/freetype-config --build=x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu --host=arm-unknown-linux-androideabi && make && touch /ssd1/lo/android/workdir/ExternalProject/fontconfig/build ... checking expat.h usability... yes checking expat.h presence... yes checking for expat.h... yes if it instead starts looking for a libxml2 library, something went wrong when building the expat library. --tml
