I am not opposed to the patch, but what I like about things like just having --disable-java is that it is clear that we default to enable. With the dependency tracking like this for example, it is not clear from the output of configure --help what the default is, on or off? Perhaps we should state that in the help text (default is enabled, or whatever fits) Opinions?
